So, Honey Badger (she selected the name, I liked it) and I got to comparing some notes on our men. Honey reminisced on her ex, and I, on you guessed it, Mr. Str8, about the annoying behaviour of some men’s video game addiction…
Honey: Tell everyone about our rant (laughing)
Me: So Str8 has picked up another Playstation video game. He came down for weekend. I worked on the Sunday, so we confirmed, on the way into town in the morning, that I was off at 6:30. He said he would leave at 6:20. I texted him after 6pm. After I was walking to meet him, I get a text “u off at 6:30 or 7:30?” He got caught up playing this game, and was over 30 minutes late…..so not impressed. Then, the very next night we agreed to meet at the market. I texted him ten minutes away from the store. He showed up late, 20 minutes later. Oh, and why you may ask? Yup, frickin video game! Was I a happy princess? Not so much. He being a j-a, laughed it off. Men!
Marla: (laughs)
Marla: (laughs)
Honey: Ya, A-H would play his video games all night, for hours, and stay up late, even though he had to be up at 6am, he would play past 1am! stupid.
Me: Right? And ok, if that’s not bad enough, I leave Str8 for the day, and know he is on that blasted thing all day, and when I get home, there are dishes, and bags and wrappers all over my counter like some junk food atom bomb went off! It’s not like there is a garbage can under the sink, oh no, that one just leaves a mess like a teenage junkie!
Honey: (laughing) I know, they lose all sense, wasting their time.
Me: Trust me, just like Carlie said, we could strip off and do a lap dance and get pushed away like we don’t exist. Zombies the lot of em.
Honey: Why are men like that?
Marla: Men are like overgrown kids.
Me: More or less. I don’t get it. If I don’t respond to Str8 when he wants me to, I get flack! Now, ladies, you have to understand men are designed by biology to be the hunter. So they hunt, watch sports, play video games or build things to keep them active, no longer the caveman that actually brought back the bacon. Housework, cooking and cleaning, that is not a man’s job. Do they not realize, but not paying attention and doing what we want, that they make it worse for them?
Honey: That pisses me off, because when I used to try to get him to bed, he would bitch and complain, and sulk. (laughing) Hey, wait, but you are still a man.. so…
Me: Gurl, I i-dent-ify…it’s not my fault God gave me the pole and not the valley. It is a wonderful curse… I get to…
Honey: And that is where you should end this rant before it get’s triple x… Say ‘see you later’
Me:….oh… (pout) men.. I will leave it at that… see you all later..
We all have things that annoy us, and we can annoy our partners. But for love, we may complain, but at the end of the day, we secretly look back and laugh. It’s the little things that make a relationship. No one is perfect.

Quality Time: For Love or Sex?
Spending quality time with someone, is an important part of human development. We all know about belonging, and needs. Some of us have more social skills then others. (We all knew folk like that..hell, we could be them even). There is as many things we like to share, as there are people to share them. Friends always have it easy. I know the friends I can watch ‘Sex and the City’ with, or ‘Glee’, do dinners, movies, drink, run the roads, or do a spa night. Once you cram a Samantha, Charlotte, or Miranda, (or even a Carrie), into a significant other…and sex…it gets a little complex.
While courting, Str8 was more than willing to take me out, meet up with my friends for drinks and half price h’ordeuvres, and listen to us complain about work. We did restaurants at lest twice a month. Movies. We would play favourite songs for each other, watching the videos on YouTube. Sit on the deck, and star-gazer with a glass of wine. Ah, the good old days
Now-a-days, I have been a soundboard for him about video games. He explains them to me, thinking my hovering over him is a sign of interest. (I do this to either bug him or annoy him into not playing). I have also taken to try to show some interest. I have sat to watch him play. Encourage him. Scream at zombies. Even played some with him. On the other hand, I have taken to his interest in making homemade wine. (It’s alcohol, after all. And wine..a love we both share). It’s something we do. Even if he does most of the work, and I take orders. (“hand me that towel”, “hold the tube”, “see this packet? It is…”) I feel like Igor, to his Count Dracula… However, it is something we can do together.
I have in turn shared my pastimes of writing. He is impressed with the blog, even if he says things like: “Do you think all those people really read your shit, or do they just happen on it by mistake?” I know, I wish I could put into words how I feel about his support. Or, my digital photo art. He has been good with that. Even if he says things like: “You did that? Not bad. What the fuck is it?”
This summer, we started a new thing. On gorgeous days, in the heat and sun of summer, (the 3 days we were blessed with this year), we drive in to town to Point Pleasant Park. And feed the squirrels. Or, as a child, Str8 called them, ‘square-els’. It is fun, and I have more squirrel photos than I do of him, or us together. (Str8: “One picture each time we go is enough. You starting a fucking blog about squirrels?”)
I will take the quality time of watching science-fiction with Str8 on my laptop, any day. I guess, really even in movies, we willing give in to each other’s interests, just to enjoy being with each other. While patriotic myself, (Jenna, my NDP cap is off to you), for me, being an artist, I have made Str8 sit through Canadian films. “Gunless’, ‘Splice’, ‘Mambo Italiano’ (which, being a gay movie, he loved, even without any sex scenes)..and I have sat through some groaner, low quality kung fu movies.
I mean, I am not sure I could find myself being Katie Holmes-like to join Scientology, even for Tom Cruise. (Sorry Tom). Or find myself in the middle of croc territory, (no matter how much I love animals), like Terri did for Steve ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Irwin. (Sorry Terri). However, I do enjoy every precious moment I have with the man I love, even if he is Str8. And we all have learned our own limits when it comes to taking on our significant other’s interests. That as humans, we are willing to make the case for companionship, and no matter how mundane, or exciting, we will do things for the ones we love. More precisely, the truth is, that as Maslow said, we will do just about anything to get laid. What? It’s the nookie. Right?
Paint it any colour you want, but humans are social creatures. We thrive with interacting with others. As creatures looking for companionship, we have so much to share. It’s not about just the common interests, but the ones that are different. Of all the reasons we will ourselves to share things together, is it just the prime directive of sex? Do straight men really go to the opera just to sit next to their ladies? Do ladies really suffer football just for the tight ends? As much as it is for love? Are we willing to try new things, for the sake of sex? Or love? Both? What hobbies, interests, pastimes, adventures do you share with your partner?

Relationship Question
So, question.
Background: You are a single gay man, in redneck territory, and decide to get a profile on a dating website. And you meet and chat via email with a guy who lives a few hours away, and never meet, and he flakes off and leaves you hanging. Then, months later you meet, and end up dating someone else.
Situation: You have really no experiences in the gay world, and commit to someone who knows this. And, is very set in his ways of being in a relationship. Your BF is very accommodating to your learning curve, even though it bothers him.
Dilemma: So after 1 and a half years, the guy you were interested in before you meet your BF, adds you to FaceBook. You don't add him in front of your BF, but rather, on your way home to sleep before work. (As you are in basically a long distance relationship, and only spend a few days at a time with your BF in the city). So, you go to a family member's house (as you do not have the Internet at home), and add this former suitor. You don't mention this to your BF, who has to ask you about it, as he saw the news feed update 10 hours later on his own FB profile. And, you don't even make an effort to communicate with him.
Until one night, while online, you chat him on FB, while your BF is making dinner 2 feet from you.
And be completely blase about it.
Question: So, as the BF, how would this make you feel? Do you let it go, as you know that this other guy is suppose to be in relationship? Do you open dialogue, to find out how your BF is feeling-as in, what motivation he had to not just add him, but to finally chat him up? If you were the BF who did this, would you 1-have even added this other guy? 2-after 2 years of no contact, randomly say hi?
Anyone, feel free to comment, reply, answer, give opinion.
Interested in hearing feedback.
Thanks.

As Found Online: REVEALED: What Constitutes Cheating?
by Matthew Stefanson (from sympatico.ca lifestyle, aug 30 2011)
What are the obvious indiscretions?
What are the obvious indiscretions?
We're fragile creatures. Our hearts are easily broken, even by small trespasses, and that's why it's so painful when we are faced with a major betrayal. Of course, the worst case scenario is when sex is involved. Romantic entanglement makes every single kind of pain worse. It turns mourning into grieving, anger into rage and sadness into complete, late stage renal failure type anguish. We guard our hearts very carefully against betrayal and because of this, there is sometimes a disparity between the sexes as to what exactly it is that constitutes infidelity. Where is the line between harmless flirting and inappropriate canoodling? When exactly does someone cross the boundary between these two zones and enter hostile territory? The answer isn't universal. Due to the different ways that the sexes interact and socialize, what is thought of as acceptable by one, might be completely unacceptable to the other.
That is why we at The Soko are endeavouring to shed a little light on the issue this week. This week's Message From Mars will deal with the age old problem of cuckoldry: what do men think of it and exactly where do they think the borders of acceptable behaviour lie for their partners?
Physical Indiscretions
The obvious red flags don't need to be mentioned. No touching below the belt or between the midriff and shoulders. No lasting meaningful eye contact. Absolutely no extramarital hand holding. These rules have been golden for a long time, the unshakable tenets of any relationship, but they don't necessarily apply to everyone.
Sexual arrangements differ in every relationship and you will know better than me what that is for you, but it's a good bet that if you've never talked about it, you don't have an arrangement. Assuming that you are engaged in a serious relationship, which I can't guarantee, you will either be working under the assumption that you are monogamous or you will have come to the conclusion, through a mutual arrangement, that you are allowed to seek out some manner of extramarital activity. If you haven't reached this conclusion with your partner, then that's where the line is. Don't cross it.
Off Limits Lovers
If you have decided that your coupling will be more of a free-wheeling, fly by the seat of your perpetually unzipped pants sort of situation, then you've probably set some boundaries. But there are unspoken ones that most men wouldn't feel the need to bring up, either because they think it's too obvious or because they think it would make them seem restrictive. Regardless of their intentions, there are certain types of sanctioned infidelities that will completely derail the whole system. Stay away from his friends, relatives and, if you're really considerate, your ex-boyfriends. Most men would not appreciate the knowledge that you are carrying on a sexual relationship with any of these people and it's an invitation for drama and turmoil.
Aside from this, most men who are willing to engage in polyamorous relationships are fine with any arrangement that doesn't diminish the quality or frequency of the sex that you are having with him. This is actually the reason that most men do engage in poly activities, it helps keep the relationship healthy by removing boundaries that are likely to be crossed anyway, but there are still smaller, more subtle boundaries within the ones that have been opened up. Try to not cross them.
Emotional
Men aren't too big on the whole emotional infidelity thing. It's not as big of a concern to us as it is to women, not because we don't cherish the lovely romantic, intellectual connections that we have with our female friends, but because we simply don't operate the same way on that level. To women, a close relationship that is had by their partner with a member of the opposite sex is usually up for close scrutiny. It doesn't usually matter if they suspect a physical indiscretion or not, or even if they sense any physical chemistry between them, the emotional connection can be enough evidence to prosecute.
Men do not see it this way. For the most part, we are only prompted to reaction by a perceived physical threat to the relationship. We are possessive of our sexual partners and can sometimes let our paranoia get the better of us if we think the sanctity of our bed is violated, but usually the presence of a close male friend is no more a problem than a close female friend. Have your emotional trysts, but be careful that it doesn't slip into something more gratifying.
Decisions
We are stupid and irrational creatures when it comes to almost anything. Our more despicable instincts cause us to be suspicious, reactionary and impulsive, and there is no more appropriate venue for this lesson than romance. We get jealous of our partners and suspicious of people we perceive as threats to our happiness, but that doesn't mean that we are continually in the right. We can be pigheaded and stubborn, and most often these are the qualities that cause a woman to stay in the first place. If your fellow starts to drift away, to neglect you or actively hurt you, let him know this. If he still doesn't shape up, cheat on his ass all you want or do the mature thing and break up. Your call.

Ignored in Love
It maybe cliche, but it still rings true. You know the age old adages. 'Fine line between love and hate'.
'If you love someone, let them go-if they come back, they are yours'. 'You get what you ask for'.
People could be as simple as they seem. The whole thing about the simplist answer is usually the case...
Well.. not always easy to see the simplist answers some times. Mess of emotions, hormones, and plain old hope can muck up the view. Even to the most rational human, sometimes feelings make us mad as a hatter.
So, if your romantic partner is all about the attention while you are alone together...then how is it you feel invisable when the object of lust appears, and your mate turns on the heat of sexual want, and makes it obvious they are more than flirting. Outright seducing. And expect you to be ok with it? After you made it very clear that you are all about a relationship of 2..not 3. Not 4. (ok..so I most likely, as a (gay) man, would not turn down an experience like that..but its not what i am all about).
And funny thing is.. pretty such if I turned the tables and did shit like that...my mission would fail, because he would join right in and get even more aggressive.
Sometimes, you can't pick and choose your battles, when your battles seem to be coming fast and furious...
Changes. It is what life is about.

Have You Ever...Happy, Yes or No?
Have you ever been in a relationship were you wake up one day and wonder why, and how, you are still in it? The feeling of happiness is now just a faded, bitter memory? But you know you are not a quitter, so you keep trying to recapture that feeling?
But if you are not feeling it now, do you really think you will be able to be happy again? In some moment in the future? When you don't feel it, when do you call it as it is, and end it?
But if you are not feeling it now, do you really think you will be able to be happy again? In some moment in the future? When you don't feel it, when do you call it as it is, and end it?
